Supervision Taster Day: 28th January 2017

Start Date:Jan 28th, 2017
Event Date:Jan 28th, 2017
Venue:Warrington Office

Supervision Taster Day: 28th January 2017

The process of interpreting creates demands on the interpreter that are not only linguistic and include the dynamics involved when working with others. Such situations can be a cause of stress and may have an emotional impact on the Interpreter. This can include going above and beyond with some clients, not being able to switch off from work and feelings left over after assignments.
Professional supervision facilitates the Interpreter to identify and manage their individual responses to work and provides an opportunity to reflect on and explore issues and dilemmas that arise in work.

This workshop will give the participants the opportunity to learn more about professional supervision and how it can benefit their practice.

In this workshop participants will have the opportunity to:

• Understand the difference between professional supervision, mentoring and line management supervision
• Identify their existing support networks and where they might benefit from additional support
• Discuss the benefits of supervision for interpreters
• Explore the functions of supervision and how to prepare for a supervision session
• Experience supervision in action, through a live supervision session between the workshop facilitators
• Explore the differences between individual and group supervision
• Discuss how to access supervision

Trainers:

Ali Hetherington
Omoyele Thomas

The training course is £150 per candidate.
